Fashion Trends I Will Never Understand!!

I want this blog to be positive and embrace everyone's personal style but I have to get this off my chest. There are just some fashion trends I will never understand...
Disclaimer** These are my personal opinions! Please dont get offended if you love these trends.

The Harem/Grandma Pants

This trend of wearing pants that look like they were designed to fit over adult nappies that had been well utilised just doesnt make sense to me. Women often ask themselves; does my bum look big in these pants...YES, YES IT DOES! and about a foot lower than it should be!
At what point did a designer go...you know what I think I am going to design a pant that will create the illusion of a kankles, swolen knees, and a large amount of junk in the wearers trunk, put it on a catwalk and see if anyone falls for it.

The High Rise Denim Underwear

Shorts (definition): trousers that end above the knee or reach the knee, which are often worn in hot weather or when playing a sport.
Briefs (definition): a piece of underwear worn by men or women, covering the area between the waist and the tops of the legs.

At what point did shorts and underwear blurr lines? Maybe for the past 20 years of my life I've been restricting my clothing posibilities, all thoes gorgeous pairs of underwear I could have been showing off, if only I was aware that underwear were pants!!
Seriously girls, if you are struggling to conceal your g-string under your shorts or you come home with sun burn on ur arse from the shortness of your shorts you need to take a hard look in the mirror and admit that the slice of denim stitched between your legs is not pants! No matter how high it goes up your torso..!

The Bra Top

Again! At what point did womens underwear become outwear?? And at what point can we distinguish between what is a bra and what is a tee shirt?? Most shopping centers do not allow women to walk around in their bikini or bra or men without their shirt...where does the line get drawn here? Is it all dependant on the hight of the pant? Its almost like the shortness of ones top is inversely proportional to the hight of ones short shorts.

I saw an article in my local newspaper, and the headline read "14 is the new 18 for girls" regarding their age. I see 14 year old girls and younger walking around in the last two fashions shown above,  exposing leg, stomach and chest all at once. We worry about girls being over exposed, paedophilles and adults looking at our children, but if parents and mothers are allowing their young girls to expose themselves this much, whether conciously or not, they are allowing their children to sexualise themselves. And dont think that children dont know about sex and being sexy, in this day and age where children have access to the internet and television is less and less censored girls as young as 12 and 14 are acting like 18 year olds. Protect and care for your daughter, she only has one childhood, teach her to respect her body, herself, dress age appropriate and stay a kid for as long as she can, because she has her whole life to be an adult.

Like I said at the begining, these opinions are my own, wear what you love, and love what you wear.

Toodles!

Flawless Skin Without Foundation!!

I just wanted to share this video, I think its a great idea. I will deffs be giving this a shot!

I have recently been trying to wean myself off of my make-up addiction :p and this is a perfect way to do that. Its similar to BB cream in that he's making a tinted moisturiser, but its not as heavy as foundation and its going to be better for your skin.

Take a look and try it for yourself!

Em's Ten Day Beauty Challenge

I want to challenge anyone who is like me and feels a bit self concious to go out without make up on to do a one week challenge of minimising the amount of make up products you use each day! For ten days, I challenge you to use as little make up as possible! Give your skin a break and become confident with your naturally beautiful face and skin!
And if you think that you cant do it now because you're going through a crazy pimple phase...So am I, and what better way for your skin to kick those bad boys out than with make up rehab!! :D

I've listed some suggestions below of ways you can minimise your make up, help you ease into reducing your make up use, and begining your journey to loving your own skin naturally :D

Suggestions:

Try going for a BB cream or tinted moisturiser instead of foundation on days where you dont require a polished look, for example going out with friends or just running errands.

Skip the eye liner and shaddow and just go for a few coats of mascara, if you feel that you want some more definition, try applying some brown eye shaddow with a small angled brush along your upper lash line to give your lashes some more oomph and that added definition!

Use powder only in the places that you need it most, for example; under the eyes, nose and chin for me.

Define your brows, even if you arent going to wear a full face of make up, ensure you have tamed brows, as they will give your face an instant lift and finished look.

Go for a tinted or clear gloss or lip balm instead of a heavily pigmented or bright lipstick or lip gloss.

.............................

I wish you all the best and hope you are having an AWSOME summer if you live down under and a wonderful winter every where else! :D

Good luck with my beauty challenge!! Please come back and let me know in the comments below how you go! I would LOOOVE to hear how you go!!

Love

My Tropical Holiday Beauty Favorites and New Years Outfit

A belated HAPPY NEW YEARS to all!! I had the most amazing Christmas and New Years of my life. I was fortunate enough to spend it with family and friends at Club Med Phuket in Thailand!
If anyone wants the New Years Celebration of a life time, book yourself into ClubMed! hehe

Phuket is a beautiful tropical island but often the word 'tropical' makes my skin tremble in fear...humidity, constant applications of sun screen, sweat, heat...every girls nightmare when it comes to staying pimple free. I was unfortunately hit with an army of hormonal and stress pimples just before I left for my tropical paradise, and I have to admit I almost never have pimples! So yeah I was freaking out a bit thinking my face was going to be ruined forever!! But it was alllll good :D

My auntie had given me a Garnier skin pack for Christmas just before we left, it included their Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream and a Clean Sensitive - Gentle Foaming Cleanser. I normally wear makeup every day, but I conquered my fears and challenged myself to step away from the powder for 10 days and go natural. Using only sunscreen and BB Cream with SPF24+ during the day, and cleaning my skin thoroughly with cleanser every morning and night, my skin became clearer, and my skin tone evened up. The BB Cream gave me the right amount of coverage so that it looked like I had a natural summer glow and slight tan, I did add a little liquid concealer under my eyes on occasion for those post late night reminders.
At night I of course went all out with the glamorous night looks, but made sure my face was clean of any make up before collapsing into bed.

Here is my New Years outfit, the dress I bought in Bebe on sale for about $160 AUD on sale, and the shoes were from a shop in Thailand, they cost me $10 and are gorgeous black velvet platforms with a peep toe and gold and diamante peacock like design on one side. Word for warning though, I wore these shoes for about 9 hours that night, and I still have no feeling in 3 toes... :S If anyone knows how to fix a damaged nerve please let me know!!

Sorry the quality is a bit dodgy but I somehow forgot to take photos! Silly me!!

I hope you have a wonderful 2013 and remember a smile is the most beautiful thing you can put on your face!

Lots of love

Em
